Week 24 Consolidation and Confirmation

A quieter week focused on checking alignment, where structure, planting and detail are tested not through change, but through confirmation.

Technical

Flow

Confirming the logic and organisation of the technical report.

This week centred on a discussion with Duncan about the overall structure of my technical report. I walked through the organisation of the document, including how drawings, sections and written explanations are sequenced. The feedback was largely positive, with Duncan confirming that the structure is clear and appropriately aligned with the requirements of the module.

This was important, as the report now moves beyond content production and into clarity of communication. The arrangement of information, how sections relate to one another, and how the narrative flows from strategy to detail are all critical in ensuring the work can be understood and assessed effectively.

Planting

Validating the ecological and spatial planting strategy.

We also reviewed my planting palette and schedule. Duncan was satisfied with both the selection and the way it has been organised across the site. This included the distribution of planting typologies, the balance between ornamental and ecological zones, and the way species relate to water conditions and spatial intent.

The planting schedule, as a technical document, plays a key role here. It translates conceptual planting ideas into measurable and actionable information, including species selection, density and arrangement. Having this confirmed provided reassurance that the ecological strategy is both coherent and technically credible.

Detail

Identifying what remains to be resolved at a sectional level.

We briefly discussed the detailed sections I have already produced, as well as those that still need to be completed. While the direction is correct, there are still areas where further refinement is needed, particularly in demonstrating how different systems meet, such as ground to boardwalk, planting to hard edge and water to structure.

The focus now is not on rethinking these details, but on completing and refining them so they clearly communicate construction logic, material relationships and performance. This stage is about precision rather than exploration.

Reflection

This week felt like a point of confirmation rather than change. The project is now largely set, and the remaining work is focused on completing and refining what is already in place. The discussion reinforced that the design is on the right track, and that attention should now be directed toward clarity, completeness and technical accuracy rather than further iteration.
