Week 5 - Between Code and Critique
Refinement becomes revelation; each adjustment sharpens intent

This week began with the review of our design codes and the presentation of our four protagonists. Each element was discussed and refined - not as isolated outputs, but as interconnected parts of a wider narrative tied to the site. The feedback prompted a deeper consideration of how each protagonist relates to the site’s physical and social ecologies, ensuring that our visual and conceptual languages align across the group’s work. The iterative nature of the review encouraged us to approach revision not as correction, but as evolution.
Polishing each page, each map, each line.
Our 1:2500 site survey maps were also shared and critiqued. The process of redrafting them became one of rediscovery — of scale, of proportion, and of context. Each adjustment revealed new relationships within the site: thresholds, flows, and subtle gradients of occupation. Through both group feedback and independent refinement, the map developed into a more communicative and layered representation of the site’s character, blending precision with narrative intent.
Preparing to Present, Preparing to Learn
With the mid-term critique approaching, our focus shifted to synthesis. The days following the review were spent consolidating every strand of work - codes, protagonists and mapping - into a coherent visual and conceptual framework. The task was one of editing as much as creation: distilling the essence of our ideas while ensuring clarity and cohesion across the group’s output. This stage carried a sense of anticipation, a readiness to test how our developing language might hold under critical discussion.
